Buddhist Tzu-Chi Dialysis Centre (Penang)
A heartwarming notification lit up volunteer Sister Ci Yi’s phone—a text and voice message from Mrs. Eng (pseudonym), the wife of our dialysis patient. Her words overflowed with deep gratitude for everyone at the dialysis centre.
Months ago, facing severe health and vision challenges, Mrs. Eng found herself at an overwhelming low point. Fortunately, a group of “Bodhisattvas” stepped in. Doctors, nurses, volunteers, fellow families, and a visually impaired yet bright-hearted patient, Lau Kar Kie, all rallied around her, lighting her path through the darkness.
Since our home visit in January, Mrs. Eng has beautifully blossomed. She has actively joined our Family Day and health screening, and has even volunteered at the centre! Recently, when she saw the admin who visited her in January, she gave her a huge, joyful hug. From a place of despair to a radiant smile, this heartfelt embrace is the most beautiful miracle of our medical humanities.
“The most beautiful thing in the sky are the stars. The most beautiful thing on Earth is warmth and love.” —— Jing Si Aphorisms by Master Cheng Yen
