This patient, a divorced father of a Tzu Chi Education Centre primary student, suffers from lung disease and can only do low-income odd jobs, relying on government and charity aid. His child returned to Penang due to the mother’s financial hardship; both urgently need Tzu Chi’s continued support for daily living and education.

He was unable to afford his medication until our Medical Home Care team intervened. Volunteers coordinated with medical professionals and Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) to provide essential care, including oxygen therapy and regular home visits. After several hospitalizations, he is now on 24-hour oxygen support in a nursing home, with ongoing support for his family.

In addition to Western medical care, our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) team provided herbal medicine and acupuncture, which brought immediate relief and improved his quality of life. The TCM doctor continues to visit twice weekly. This case demonstrates our commitment to holistic care, integrating both Western and traditional medicine to support patients and their families, made possible by the generosity of our donors.

True goodness is to reach out naturally, without the slightest hesitation, to help others. — Jing Si Aphorism by Dharma Master Cheng Yen✨ ✨
