Two lecturers from Taimu Academy came to Penang to conduct in-person training for teachers and volunteers on children’s tea education. During their trip, they took time to visit the Tzu Chi Dialysis Centre.
In the centre’s bakery, they listened as dialysis patients shared stories of turning points and perseverance, witnessing strength that persists even through illness. In the dialysis ward, the head nurse explained the main causes of kidney failure, shared key statistics, the number of patients the centre has served, and provided brief health education. Beyond that, they observed the natural respect and care between nurses and patients.
They realised that professional care and humanistic values are closely connected. They left with a deeper understanding that education and compassionate healthcare share the same foundation — nurturing both knowledge and the heart.
