Every time a dialysis patient passes on,
a heaviness lingers in our hearts.
After years of seeing each other every week — checking blood pressure, preparing treatment, sharing small conversations and reminders — they slowly become more than just patients. They become part of our lives too.
So when a patient leaves this world, our nurses, staff, and volunteers will often make time to visit the funeral, comfort the family, offer prayers, and accompany them on their final journey.
Of course, there is sadness.
But within that sadness, there is also a quiet sense of peace.
Peace in knowing that they no longer have to suffer.
Peace in knowing that throughout their journey, they were never alone.
Sometimes, healthcare is not only about curing illness.
Sometimes, it is about staying beside someone with compassion — until the very end.
“When we chant the Buddha’s name to the dying, it comforts them and takes away their fear so their hearts can be at peace.”—— Jing Si Aphorisms by Master Cheng Yen
