A group of nephrology lecturers and nursing students from the Ministry of Health Training Institute (ILKKM) in Alor Setar visited the Tzu Chi Dialysis Centre in Penang to gain first-hand exposure to its unique medical and humanistic care model. Guided by volunteers and staff, they learned about the centre’s history, daily operations, and the way nursing team builds respectful, compassionate relationships with patients.
The visitors shared that what impressed them most was not only the professional medical environment but also the warmth and sincerity of the volunteers and nurses. They observed how patients are cared for with gratitude, respect, and love — values that go beyond routine medical practice. Many felt inspired to bring this spirit into their own professional journeys, emphasizing the importance of empathy, listening, and genuine communication in nursing.
The visit strengthened their resolve to integrate humanistic values into healthcare, ensuring that compassion continues to prevail wherever they serve.
