Mr Wen’s House
Our dialysis patient, Mr. Wen used to live a simple, stable life with his 75-year-old mother. However, a series of unfortunate events disrupted his peace. After a severe fall in 2024 that fractured his leg, he faced more trials in 2025, including brain surgery and another operation for a foot infection. These consecutive hurdles left him unable to walk freely. After the operations, as his elderly mother was unable to care for him alone, his sister arranged for him to stay at a nursing care facility, which has been more than a year now. To ease his burden, the centre provided financial support.
After he spent another Chinese New Year in the hospital, our nursing team planned a special surprise to lift his spirits after his discharge. Nearly twenty nurses, staff and volunteers visited his home, bringing a few vegetarian dishes and joyful laughter, for a heartwarming reunion lunch.
Deeply touched by this family-like companionship, Mr. Wen promised to work hard on his physiotherapy to stand and walk again. His greatest wish is to return home and spare his mother from further worry.
“With persistence, we can eventually break through any obstacle, like dripping water that erodes a stone.” —— Jing Si Aphorisms by Master Cheng Yen
