Buddhist Tzu-Chi Dialysis Centre (Penang)

Most dialysis centres are closed on Sundays, and yet, on 10 May, our dialysis centre in Penang transforms into a space of learning and reflection.

Volunteers from Pahang, Johor, Terengganu, and Ipoh gathered for the “Returning to Our Beginning” guided tour, where nurses, staff, and volunteers came together to share stories behind the centre and the lives connected to it.

Through exhibitions, tea appreciation, simulated needle experiences, and heartfelt sharing sessions by nurses and patients, participants gained a deeper understanding of dialysis patients’ journeys.

Even on their day off, nurses volunteered their time—reminding us that care continues beyond medical treatment, through empathy, listening, and human connection.
